ESK Skincare

Welcome to esk

ESK is the lovechild of co-founders Doctor Ginni Mansberg, and her husband Daniel, in order to create a skincare range which had at its core three guiding principles: Evidence, Efficacy, and Integrity. She created these products because she could not (and still cannot) find another cosmeceutical skincare brand which adhered closely to the best available evidence. And so in 2017, three years after first developing her products for doctors, ESK was born.

ESK Philosophy

If you’re looking for effective & ethical skincare, you’ve come to the right place.

Evidence Skincare (ESK) ingredients have all been specifically chosen based on the strength of their evidence established in independent, peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Evidence

Our products are made using the key ingredients with the best available evidence as published in respected peer reviewed, science journals. This extends not only to the ingredients, but also concentrations, pH levels and use of excipients.

Efficacy

While Evidence is at the core of ESK’s philosophy, we are ultimately measured by the results that ESK customers enjoy.

That starts with whether they love the experience of using the products, how simple the products are to use and how much time the user needs. And only when the products have had time to work, whether the products do what the user hopes they will.

Integrity

Our formulations exclude all known and suspected harmful ingredients, including all perfume, parabens, and phthalates. They are 100% cruelty free and where possible, we use recyclable packaging. To stay authentic to our philosophy, our marketing will not prey on individual insecurities or make unfounded claims. It’s also why ESK and its partners offer a no questions asked money back guarantee.

Our obsession with evidence should ensure that ESK delivers consistently impressive results. But don’t take our word for it, read the reviews of ESK’s customers.

Retinal

Despite not being used widely, Retinal is the form of Vitamin A with the lowest irritation and the best evidence. It reduces wrinkles, fine lines, and pigmentation. It has been shown to increase skin elasticity, reduce the appearance of pore size, stimulate skin cell growth and collagen production. It also enhances the turnover of skin cells, to help with skin cell rejuvenation and renewal. In addition, it is also effective in managing acne. In fact, due in part to being so well tolerated, it also has evidence for reducing.

Retinal vs Retinol: Retinal is 20 times more potent than Retinol, the more commonly used but old school (and often irritating) form of Vitamin A which has weak evidence.

4-n-butylresorcinol

4NB is the most powerful inhibitor of tyrosinase, the enzyme which is primarily responsible for, and is therefore the primary target of, skin hyperpigmentation treatments. By powerfully inhibiting tyrosinase, it reduces hyper-pigmentation, for a lighter more even skin tone. It is not only highly effective but is also non-irritating and safe for continuous long term use.

That makes it a great candidate both for frontline and maintenance treatment of hyperpigmentation.

l-ascorbic acid

Also known as Vitamin C, L-Ascorbic Acid is an antioxidant. It is effective at protecting the skin from sun induced premature aging and reversing some of that damage as well. It helps maintain the skin’s barrier, build collagen, and reduces wrinkles, fine lines, skin roughness and pigmentation.

L-Ascorbic Acid is naturally unstable and must be formulated in an oil base in order to delay oxidisation. Stabilised forms of Vitamin C are often used for convenience, however they have weak or have no evidence.

The best evidence is for formulations with concetrations between 10-20% and a pH less than 3.5.

Salicylic acid

Salicylic Acid gently exfoliates the skin. It is effective in managing acne, reducing the signs of sun induced aging and in managing psoriasis. Being related to aspirin, salicylic acid has anti- inflammatory and anti-microbial properties and is usually super well tolerated.

Fun fact: Salicylic is often incorrectly known as a Beta Hydroxy Acid. It is actually an aromatic hydroxy acid.

Niacinamide

Also known as Vitamin B3, Niacinamide is a great all-rounder with benefits for aging, pigmented, inflamed, rosacea or acne prone skin. Niacinamide acts as an antioxidant and assists in repair of cell DNA. It improves skin barrier function and decreases moisture loss so it’s a favourite for managing dry skin conditions, including eczema. When it comes to skin aging, Niacinamide increases skin elasticity, reduces Niacinamide also reduces pigmentation. Plus, it provides some level of photo protection and in oral form has evidence for reducing the risk of skin cancer!

Dissolving microneedles

When it comes to demonstrated benefits of dissolving microneedle patches, we know that they can help with aging skin by reducing wrinkles, crows feet, hyper-pigmentation and have also been shown to help with acne.
